“My younger brother is autistic, and that has impacted me my whole life. He needed significant care from a very young age. My mother had to leave the workforce to become his full time caregiver and to advocate on his behalf. This meant my dad had to work extra hard and earn as much as possible to care for him and our whole family. I witnessed first-hand how difficult it was to care for my brother. If my father had been able to take paid family leave to help care for my brother from time to time, it would have really helped our family financially and emotionally."
